Jean-François Tardif, CFA
President

Jean-François Tardif founded Timelo Investment Management in 2010 to serve the needs of investors who were seeking an investment solution which provided an attractive risk adjusted return while being uncorrelated with equity markets.  Prior to founding Timelo, Mr. Tardif was a Senior Portfolio Manager with Sprott Asset Management Inc. ("Sprott") from November 2001 to July 2009.  During his tenure with Sprott he served as the lead manager of the Sprott Opportunities Hedge Fund LP from its inception in April 2004 to July 2009.  Under his management, in 2007 the Sprott Opportunities Hedge Fund LP won HFM Week’s Best Canadian Based Hedge Fund award.  In addition, Mr. Tardif participated in Globe Investor's My One and Only stock-picking contest, and was a three-time champion from 2007 to 2009.  Prior to Sprott, he was a portfolio manager at ING Investment Management Ltd. and, prior to August 1997, was an analyst at Cote 100.

Mr. Tardif holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Sherbrooke University and the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Scott Morrison, CFA

VP Investments

Scott Morrison joined Timelo Investment Management as an Investment Analyst in September 2018. Prior to joining Timelo, he was an Investment Analyst at British Columbia Investment Management Corporation working as a global generalist with the Global Thematic portfolio. Previously, Mr. Morrison was an Associate in Investment Banking at Eight Capital (formerly Dundee) as well as an Equity Research Associate covering the base and precious metals sectors.

 

Mr. Morrison holds an Honours Economics and Financial Management degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Alexander Blanchard
Chief Compliance Officer, VP Operations & Trading

 

Alexander Blanchard joined Timelo Investment Management in November 2013.  Mr. Blanchard is responsible for managing certain operational, trading, client services and compliance activities of the firm and its funds.   Prior to joining Timelo he worked in relationship management at TD Canada Trust.

Mr. Blanchard holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Guelph.

Phil Rezene
Investment Analyst

Phil Rezene joined Timelo Investment Management as an Investment Analyst in February 2021. Prior to joining Timelo, he completed two internships as an Investment Analyst at Anson Funds, a hedge fund with $1B AUM.

Mr. Rezene holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University.

Andrew Phillips

Dealing Representative & Investment Analyst

Andrew joined Timelo Investment Management as an Investment Analyst in January 2021 and has since expanded his responsibilities as a Dealing Representative.

Mr. Phillips holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from York University and has completed the Canadian Securities Course.

Ryan Schwartz
Investment Analyst

Ryan Schwartz joined Timelo Investment Management as an Investment Analyst in May 2023. Prior to joining Timelo, he worked on the InvestorLine desk at BMO and completed an internship at PwC.

Mr. Schwartz holds an Honours Economics degree from Queen's University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst Level II Candidate.

Jonathan Ruel, CFA, CAIA

Investment Analyst

Jonathan Ruel joined Timelo Investment Management as an Investment Analyst in March 2024. Prior to joining Timelo, he was an investment analyst at Fiera Capital, Burgundy Asset Management, and Dynamic Funds and has over 10 years of cumulative experience investing in publicly listed companies for Canadian, US and Global equity mandates.

 

Mr. Ruel holds a Bachelor’s of Commerce from Concordia University with a major in Accounting as well as the Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designations.
